Once a semester, all active members of the institute meet for a joint retreat in the vicinity of Stuttgart to present current topics of their own research and to discuss research and teaching. The program is completed by the traditional hike, the common meals as well as the cozy get-together in the evening.
Topics this semester include:
- New developments in the institute's own research code Ikarus
- Current research on actuator placements for adaptive structures within the the CRC 1244
- Investigations on tetrahedral elements and development of a new tetrahedral element
- Current reseach in modelling of sheet metal forming with shell elements within the EFB-project
- Current research on non-linear hierarchic shells in dynamics
- Tools session with hints on helpful software, etc.

The institute is not occupied during these days.
