Once a semester, all active members of the institute meet for a joint retreat in the vicinity of Stuttgart to present current topics of their own research and to discuss research and teaching. The program is completed by the traditional hike, the common meals as well as the cozy get-together in the evening.
Topics this semester include:
- New developments in the institute's own research code Ikarus
- Current research on adaptive structures within the the SFB 1244
- Current research on nonlinear hierarchic shells
- Current research on instrinsically locking free finite elements
- Potential new research projects
- Tools session with hints on helpful software, etc.

The institute is not occupied during these days.
