Job vacancy for PostDoc

September 9, 2021

The Institute for Structural Mechanics at the University of Stuttgart has a vacancy for a

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d)
full-time, TV-L 13, temporary.

The activities include both the leading collaboration in research projects of the institute, and in particular the independent application and implementation of own research projects. The establishment of an own small research group within the institute and the participation in joint research projects of the university are desired. Further tasks are in the area of teaching, especially in the implementation of lectures in the study program civil engineering or COMMAS. The position is initially limited to three years.

The team of the Institute for Structural Mechanics is engaged in research with computeroriented modeling and simulation methods for all areas of nonlinear structural mechanics ("Computational Mechanics"). The focus is on methodologically oriented fundamental research, especially in the area of the finite element method (FEM), and the development of an in-house research software. The scientific focus is on finite element technology, shells, isogeometric analysis, adaptive structures, path following methods and data-integrated simulations. The institute is involved in the Clusters of Excellence IntCDC “Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture” and SimTech “Data-Integrated Simulation Science” as well as in the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1244 “Adaptive Skins and Structures for the Built Environment of Tomorrow”.

In addition to the usual legal requirements, the position requires a Ph.d. in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or a related subject with a focus on areas relevant to structural analysis, structural dynamics and mechanics. You can expect a challenging and versatile job at an institute that conducts research at an international level. Motivation and willingness to perform, interest in mechanics and mathematics, creativity, the ability to work in a team and, last but not least, a good portion of curiosity are your tools for a successful job with us.

Interested? We will be happy to answer your questions on the phone or by e-mail. Or you can send us your digital application documents right away: bewerbung@ibb.uni-stuttgart.de
