The Institute for Structural Mechanics at the University of Stuttgart has an immediate vacancy as

student assistant (HiWi) (f/m/d).

The activity includes the work in a research project of the institute in the field of sheet metal forming simulation. Detailed information about this project can be found at https://www.ibb.uni-stuttgart.de/en/research/forming-simulation/ .

The task of the student assistant is to perform benchmark simulations using commercial software such as LS-DYNA, ANSYS or Autoform. Furthermore, the results have to be analyzed and processed independently and conclusions have to be drawn.

The tasks require working on PCs at the institute. In case a sufficiently good internet connection is available that allows remote access, the tasks can be completed from home.

Qualifications relevant for this job are:

  • Good knowledge of structural mechanics as well as good knowledge of the finite element method
  • Experience with finite element simulations in commercial software (e.g., ANSYS, LS-DYNA, Autoform, Abaqus, etc.)
  • Availability in summer term 2021 and winter term 2021/22 for 30 hours per month
  • German language skills are advantageous, but not necessary
